Even an ant, even a sparrow, even you

I watched an ant crawl across the floor. It instantly caught my son’s eye. The ant crawled under the dog bed. My son lifted the edge of the dog bed. He was puzzled he couldn’t find the ant. Then he lifted the other side of the dog bed. Out crawled the ant. Fin followed it with his eyes, unsure of the desired fate for this ant. The dog came over near the ant and immediately Fin cupped his hands around the ant exclaiming “Let him live! Let him live! He needs a life too!” He carefully escorted the ant to safety.

We have the innate desire to want to LIVE and LIVE well, just like that ant was doing. He was trying to survive by being hidden underneath the dog bed.

We rally around those we know are fighting to live. Just like my son, rooting for the ant to live and acting on his behalf.

I have a wonderful, smart, sensitive, kind, innovative and inventive, determined and brave 14 year old in my life who has been fighting to live well. He was diagnosed with cancer of the bone and has been fighting to say “goodbye cancer.” And “never again.”
He has been bold in his fight against cancer and we are rallied around him to see that he lives and lives well.
John 10:10 says “I have come that they may have life and have it abundantly.”
Romans 15:13, I appeal to you, brothers, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to strive together with me in your prayers to God on my behalf,
Phillipians 4:6, Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God

Matthew 10, Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

Anytime I become anxious about the health condition of a friend or become panicked or worried on their behalf, I must simply turn my worry into a prayer, presenting my request to the Lord while believing and waiting on Him to answer it.
My current thought may be “Oh dear.  I really am worried that his cancer may return.”
I’m going to change this thought into a prayer. “Lord, keep his body cancer free.  I ask health and long life over him.”
My current thought may be “What if it’s not the right treatment plan? What if the doctors aren’t being proactive enough?”
I’m going to change my thought into a prayer. “Lord, give wisdom to those who are overseeing his care.”
Takeaways
1. The desire to live and live well is a God given desire
2. We are to rally around those who are fighting to live and live well
3. Turn all worry into prayer.  Take the burden of worry and anxiety and give it to the Lord
